University Assessment and Program Review Committee

Welcome to the University of Toledo University Assessment and Program Review Committee!

The University Assessment and Program Review Committee is committed to helping faculty and staff members evaluate how well our students meet established learning outcomes in academic programs, co-curricular experiences, and the core curriculum. It is also responsible for the academic program review process at the University. The UAPRC’s assessment and program review processes are designed to review and improve program quality, leading to enhanced student learning, in support of the university’s ongoing commitment to excellence.

Members of the UAPRC, liaisons representing the academic colleges and service units that offer co-curricular learning, meet monthly to discuss assessment and program review initiatives throughout campus. In the fall, they work with their respective colleagues to facilitate the annual reporting process within their individual colleges and service units. In the spring, the group analyzes the data for themes from across the community and informs the Provost of their findings. In addition, the committee hosts the institution’s annual Assessment Day, a professional development opportunity for faculty and staff each spring.

The committee’s goals for 2025-2026 are:

  • To continue to work with individual programs to align program learning outcomes with institutional student learning outcomes and accreditation standards (as applicable), and support programs making curriculum changes and updates to their assessment plans and curriculum maps. Continue to update program learning outcomes and curriculum mapping in the institutional curriculum management system.

  • To develop more robust training materials for program directors to assist with transitions in personnel.

  • To collaborate with the Provost Office to support accreditation visits and compliance with professional standards, and update the program review process to focus more on curriculum development and assessment practices.
