The bachelor's degree at the University of Toledo emphasizes familiarity with the history of philosophy, consisting of both western and non-western academic traditions and of thinkers that challenge and transform those traditions. Our goal is not only to provide a first rate education in texts and traditions in philosophy, but also to encourage students to think deeply and critically about the world--to live philosophically. The degree is compatible with other majors at the university, and our minor concentration would make an ideal companion to many majors both in and outside of the College of Arts and Letters.
