Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.)

Our communities need leaders and change agents ready to serve the people. The University of Toledo’s master of public administration degree will prepare you for rewarding administrative careers in government and nonprofit organizations.

You can trust our faculty to guide you through our engaging, hands-on curriculum. They’re not only expert instructors, they’re also active in professional research and community service. You’ll build proficiency in a broad scope of relevant areas, everything from budgeting and basic management, to human resources, and the public policy process.

Earn your M.P.A. part time or full time. We offer online, in-person and blended courses to balance your busy schedule. 

You also can choose a pathway that best matches your educational goals:

• Early admission: Advanced UToledo undergraduate students majoring  in any of the social sciences or minoring in political science or public administration may be eligible. Nine credit hours can be applied to both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees – all for undergraduate instructional fees.
• Dual J.D./M.P.A. degree: Law and public administration are a natural fit. Receive double credit for your course work. Twelve credit hours can be used toward both degrees.
• Graduate certificates: Make yourself more marketable by adding a 12-hour graduate certificate in a specialized area, such as:
  • Data analytics
  • Geographic information science and applied geographics
  • Health care policy and administration
  • Municipal administration
  • Nonprofit management
  • Urban and regional planning
