What is the Midwest Graduate Research Symposium? 

The Midwest Graduate Research Symposium, more commonly known as MGRS, is an annual academic event hosted by the University of Toledo Graduate Student Association (GSA) during which graduate and professional students from across the Midwest gather to showcase their unique research projects through juried oral and poster presentations. This event unites the UToledo graduate and professional student community and provides graduate and professional students an opportunity to network and share their hard work!


When is the Midwest Graduate Research Symposium?

The 2025 Midwest Graduate Research Symposium will take place Saturday, April 12th, 2025 from 9 AM - 3:30 PM on The University of Toledo Main Campus in Memorial Field House. More details to come!


Seeking Committee Members!

The GSA is now recruiting committee members for the 2025 Midwest Graduate Research Symposium, held in person here at The University of Toledo Main Campus! Here are just some of the ways you can support MGRS planning:

  • Designing promotional materials including print flyers, social media content, the MGRS program booklet, and more!
  • Supporting and coordinating with presenters and judges
  • Leading volunteers including producing guiding materials and schedules
  • Event evaluation including designing surveys for attendees, presenters, judges, and volunteers
  • Logistics including venue setup, working with campus partners, and more

Serving on the MGRS Committee is a valuable professional development opportunity and great way to gain active membership in the GSA! All interested can email the Graduate Student Association Executive Committee at GSA@utoledo.edu.


Serve as a Judge!

We are seeking judges of a variety of disciplines to evaluate the presentations of graduate and professional students. Presentations will be assessed for effectiveness, delivery, and clarity. Sign up to judge the MGRS here:

Who can be a judge?

  • Professionals holding terminal degrees
