Pediatrics

Clinical Activity

The goal of the Department of Pediatrics is to maintain excellence in clinical care, education, and research. This is achieved by division members who collaborate within an established interdisciplinary team. The Department operates specialized pediatric clinics throughout the Toledo area and Northwest Ohio. These include the Cardiology, Developmental and Behavioral, Genetics, Infectious Disease and Travelers Clinic to name a few.

All clinics are staffed by supervised board certified pediatric physicians who are members of the University of Toledo Department of Pediatrics faculty, as well as nurses and doctors-in-training. These caregivers blend understanding, sensitivity and concern for each child with state-of-the-art medical care. Children and adolescents are seen at clinics for a variety of concerns, including diabetes, obesity, issues related to growth or pubertal development, thyroid, adrenal and pituitary gland problems. Clinics adhere to a multidisciplinary approach, relying upon the combined talents of general pediatrician and pediatric specialists, pediatric nurse practitioners and psychologists when necessary.
