college of nursing response to the covid-19 pandemic

Since the onset of this pandemic, the faculty, staff, and students of The UToledo College of Nursing have stepped up in a big way, including:

  • Early Graduation - UToledo allowed nursing students slated to graduate in Spring 2020 the option of graduating early to get started in the workforce prior to the projected surge, about 70% of our B.S.N. graduates and 60% of our C.N.L. graduates chose this option
  • Surveillance Testing - Starting in August 2020, nursing students administered asymptomatic surveillance testing for UToledo employees and students
  • Contact Tracing - over 100 students participated in making surveillance calls to patients who had either tested positive or were presumed positive for COVID-19 for the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department
  • COVID-19 Vaccinations - interprofessional student teams (nursing, medicine, and pharmacy) started administration of COVID-19 vaccines in January 2021 and these teams are continuing to participate in many vaccination clinics
