The Village/Resident Adviser (V/RA) is a member of The University of Toledo Office of Residence Life staff directly responsible to the Hall Director of his/her assigned building. The V/RA is an integral part of The University's effort to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of students. In all activities, the V/RA recognizes that service to students is a top priority. The V/RA position is an important student leadership position that serves as the eyes and ears of The University of Toledo residential community. Students serving as a V/RA will be expected to know and understand the rationale for University and Residence Hall policies and procedures and enforce them effectively.

Some critical job responsibilities include but are not limited to building relationships with students, community development, having a presence in the hall, fostering a positive and inclusive environment, recognizing and assisting with student concerns, programming, conflict resolution, communication, role modeling good behavior (academically and relating to student conduct on and off-campus), participating in the duty rotation, attending staff meetings and trainings, following various administrative procedures, and other duties as assigned.  

Interested candidates are encouraged but not required to attend an information session.   


  • A meal plan and fee waiver for room rent for the appointment term.
  • V/RAs are permitted to also apply to be Desk Workers. These individuals will receive an hourly rate of $8.10 for desk shifts worked beyond the 4-hour desk shift requirement.

Applications must be submitted by Monday, November 30, 2015 at 5:00pm. Completed References must also be submitted by Monday, November 30, 2015 at 5:00pm.  Review of applications will start immediately.  

V/RA individual interviews are tentatively scheduled for Friday, February 12, 2015. V/RA group interviews (Group Process) are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2015 . All eligible applicants must complete both the individual and group interview.
