Spring 2021 Move-In

Students will schedule their own move-in appointment between Wednesday, January 13 - Sunday, January 17. To confirm or schedule your appointment, please follow the steps outlined in the email you received to your Rocket email on December 28 and/or January 7.

COVID-19 TESTING MOVE-in process

Your first step in the move-in process is to complete your COVID-19 test. Once you schedule your move-in date and time, we will automatically schedule your COVID-19 test appointment. Please report to the appropriate location based on your move-in date:

Jan. 13-15: Savage Arena
Jan. 16: Presidents Hall
Jan. 17: Savage Arena


For Savage Arena, the closest parking lots are Lot 5, 6 and 10. Please use the Sullivan Athletic Complex entrance. For Presidents Hall, the closest parking lot is Lot 25. Please enter Presidents Hall through the front entrance up the exterior stairs. 

An email was sent to all residential students on January 7 regarding the move-in and testing process. For additional information about the move-in testing process, including information on exemptions, please visit the Residence Life website.

MOVE-IN HIGHLIGHTS

Face Coverings and Physical Distancing

Face covering must be worn within all buildings on campus including residence halls except for when your room/suite door is closed. We recommend wearing face coverings in your room while guests are present. Please also practice physical distancing at all times throughout the move-in process.

Guests

To adhere to social distancing guidelines in residence halls, there will be a limit of two guests per student while moving items into their room. Students will be asked to limit their guest(s) to one guest per student after they have moved their belongings in.

Traffic Flow

There will be adjusted traffic flows throughout residence halls to limit the number of people in one space. Some buildings may have stairwells that are one direction only - a stairwell up and a stairwell down. Some buildings may also have adjusted entrance and exits to buildings with one entrance and one exit to be utilized during move-in.

Please review the Office of Residence Life Living Guide prior to coming to campus. The Living Guide includes residence hall policies and procedures, community expectations, a prohibited items list and COVID-19 specific adjustments for residence halls for this fall.

Mailing information

Each residence hall has a unique mailing address and internal mail stop number. For a list of addresses and mail stops, please click here.

Furnishings & Lofts

The furnishings in the residence halls for each student are:

  • Twin bed and mattress (measures 36" by 80" and is considered and x-long)
  • Desk and chair
  • Chest of drawers (in some residence halls, two students share a chest of drawers)
  • Wardrobe or closed space

**Parks Tower, Academic House, and International House have furniture that can be lofted or bunked to provide additional space below the bed.

Maintenance and Furniture Adjustments

Students will be asked to not be present in the room or to wear face coverings and maintain physical distance from facilities staff when in the room to make any repairs. Bed Adjustments/Furniture removal will be done by the facilities staff (MRW) or department RECON (student movers) staff. Students will be asked to wear a face covering and maintain physical distance while staff complete the work.  

  • Residents will contact the hall front desk for any/all bed adjustments 
  • Resident will be asked exactly where the bed is to be adjusted to (i.e. down 2 notches, etc.) 
  • Residents will need to clear all personal belongings from on/around the bed when a bed is scheduled to be adjusted/moved. 
  • Front Desk Staff will Inform the building maintenance repair worker (MRW)/Recon Team of pending bed adjustment request(s) via a log located at the front desk. 
  • MRW/Recon Team will wear face coverings while completing bed adjustments. 
  • MRW/Recon Team will sanitize the bed ends/stabilizer bars with disinfectant provided by the department before and after completion of the required adjustment(s).
