Join The University of Toledo College of Law in celebrating success as we recognize the graduating Class of 2025.
Toledo Law students from the Class of 2025 and their guests are invited to attend the law commencement ceremony in the Student Union Auditorium. This includes students from the J.D. and M.L.W. programs who graduate December 2024, May 2025, and August 2025. Reception to follow at the Law Center.
The ceremony will be in-person and tickets will not be required for guests. For those who prefer to participate virtually, the ceremony will be livestreamed. Keynote Speaker
David Beller is a proud 2004 University of Toledo College of Law graduate. While at
Toledo Law, Beller founded OUTLaw and the Latino Law Students Association, was Barrister
of the Charles W. Fornoff Appellate Advocacy Competition, and chair of Moot Court.
He received the 2004 Dean’s Award, and the Fall 2012 edition of the Toledo Transcript
Magazine featured him. Before Toledo Law, Beller earned a B.S. in Biomedical Science/Public
& Environmental Health from Colorado State University and is the first in his family
to graduate from college.
Beller’s commitment to his community and profession continues. After graduation, he worked as a Colorado State Public Defender with a passion for serving indigent, marginalized individuals and communities. He is a National Criminal Defense College faculty member, teaching trial skills to attorneys nationwide. The Colorado Supreme Court appointed Beller as Vice-Chair of the Character and Fitness Committee and a member of its 12-person advisory panel. He serves as a cooperating attorney with the ACLU and served as President of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Association. He was appointed by Denver’s Presiding Judge to serve as a Commissioner on the Denver Office of the Municipal Public Defender, helping create, oversee and advise the city’s public defender system. Beller also sits on numerous nonprofit boards.
In 2015, the Denver Business Journal named Beller one of the “Top 40 Under 40” business leaders. Law Week Colorado named Beller Colorado’s Best Criminal Defense Lawyer in 2022 and 2024. In 2023, the Global Competition Review named his federal work the Behavioral Matter of the Year—Americas: Broiler Antitrust Litigation. Beller is a frequent legal commentator for CNN, CBS News, ABC News, MSNBC, Fox News, News Nation, and Colorado media outlets.
Beller is a partner/shareholder at the premier Denver/New York law firm of Recht Kornfeld, P.C. He specializes in state and federal criminal defense, attorney and judicial discipline, and internal investigations. He is a court-qualified expert witness in the effective representation of criminal counsel, the Rules of Evidence, and attorney ethics.
