Carlson Library Juvenile & Children's Literature Collection

The Carlson Library maintains a book collection for children and young adults. The Juvenile Collection (as it is usually known in academic libraries) supports the University's teacher education program and children's literature courses. It consists of both fiction and non-fiction books for pre-kindergarten, elementary, and young adult readers. A special effort has been made to include books awarded the Newbery and Caldecott medals each year. Many of the juvenile books have short summaries on their records in the UT Library Catalog.

Location

The Juvenile Collection is located on the third floor of Carlson Library.

Arrangement

The juvenile books are arranged in three separate sub-collections: Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Picture Books. The call number system has been locally designed to facilitate locating and browsing.
