The Great Mystery: A Lecture Series on Death
The University of Toledo and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library presented a thought-provoking and enlightening lecture series – titled "The Great Mystery: A Lecture Series on Death" – that explored the multifaceted aspects of death, and its significance in human existence and fostered a deeper understanding of death’s impact on individuals, families, and society.
Distinguished scholars from diverse fields shared knowledge, expertise, and perspectives on death. Through a wide range of captivating lectures, attendees had the opportunity to discuss and reflect on death, dying, and themselves.
The series was held on select Tuesdays in February, March and April at Toledo Lucas County Main Public Library, 325 Michigan St. in Downtown Toledo.
LGBTQ+ Inclusivity for Researchers workshop
In an effort to promote inclusivity in medical and public health research, an interactive workshop was held on Monday, Feb. 12 at the Lloyd A. Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center. This workshop aimed to equip researchers and health professionals with a foundational understanding of planning and implementing research programs and studies that are inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community.
The workshop was presented in collaboration with Case Western's Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) and the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the history of the LBGTQ+ community in medical and public health research
- Apply frameworks for LGBTQ+ inclusivity in research
- Perform and assess LGBTQ+ research inclusivity best practices
