SCOPE Team
Our team consists of volunteer faculty members, staff and graduate students. Between our team, we have experience teaching students from grades pre-K through graduate level.
The SEM Team
Dr. Christopher Gianopolous
Dr. Chris Gionopolous is the Instrumentation Scientist for the NSM Instrumentation Center. Dr. Gianolopous has been a part of the SCOPE program since 2019 and helps with running SEM and Mass Spectrometry sessions.
Dr. Kristin Kirschbaum
Dr. Kristin Kirschbaum is the Director of the UToledo NSM Instrumentation Center. In 2010, Dr. Kirschbaum received a grant to purchase the Scanning Electron Microscope and start the SCOPE program.
The Confocal Team
The SCOPE Confocal Team consists of Professors of Biology that are engaged in active research at the University of Toledo. These Professors volunteer their time to bring real-life research to students participating in the SCOPE program.
Dr. Tomer Avidor-Reiss
Dr. Tomer Avidor-Reiss joined the SCOPE program in 2012, when he received a grant to purchase the Confocal Fluorescent Microscope. You can learn more about Dr. Avidor-Reiss and his research here.
Dr. Rafael Garcia-Mata

The GC-MS Team
The GC-MS team consists of one Professor of Chemistry that is engaged in active research at the State University of New York at Buffalo. This Professor volunteers her time to bring real-life research to students participating in the program.
Dr. Emanuela Gionfriddo

The Photoacoustics/Bio-medical Team
Dr. Aniruddha Ray
