Ritter Planetarium and Brooks Observatory

Scout Programs


Throughout the year, Ritter Planetarium offers specialized programs for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts & Brownies. These programs not only assist scouts in completing astronomy requirements, but also inspire them to stargaze in the future.

Scouts BSA Merit Badge Program

August 21, September 18, October 16, November 20, December 18, 2021 @ 7:00 PM

Based on updated guidelines from the Boy Scouts and utilizing our state-of-the-art projection system and a custom series of worksheets, this two- hour program will give participants all the information and experience needed to earn their merit badge. Observing at the Brooks Observatory follows, weather permitting. Reservations, usually on the troop level, are required. The fee is $12 per person, including adults.


Girl Scout Space Science Badge Program 

 

Daisies

November 6, 2021 @ 4:00 PM
Based on updated guidelines from the Girl Scouts and utilizing our state-of-the-art projection system and a custom series of worksheets, this one and half-hour program will give participants all the information and experience needed to earn their space science badge.  Reservations, usually on the troop level, are required. The fee is $10 per person, including adults.

Brownies

September 4, 2021 and December 4, 2021 @ 4:00 PM
