Constitutions
Content
Constitutions explain how your organization conducts its business. Several sections should be included:
- Name and affiliations (if any)
- Purpose/mission
- Membership (including the University's full non-discrimination statement)
- [organization name] does not categorically deny membership to an individual, based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, military or veteran status, the presence of a disability, genetic information, familial status, political affiliation, or participation in protected activities (unless specifically exempted by law).
- Description of officers/positions and their roles
- Elections/transition plan
- Removal procedures (of officers and members)
- Meeting structure
- Amendments (how to change constitution)
- Committees (if any)

Updating
If your organization needs to make changes to its constitution, please follow the procedures listed in the current version's Amendments process. Then send a copy of the new constitution to getinvolved@utoledo.edu so it can be updated in the Involvement Network.
