The sleep medicine fellow will participate in scholarly activities such as quality improvement projects or other research that may include discovery, integration, application, or teaching. The fellow will have the opportunity to present at local, regional, or national conferences, such as the annual SLEEP meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS), and to have his/her work published in peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM), the journal SLEEP, and other well-respected journals. At Orientation, the fellow will receive the UToledo IRB training, including CITI and HIPAA training, Biomedical IRB Training and IRB Q&A Session. The fellow will also participate in and present at multidisciplinary case conferences, clinical didactics, and journal clubs.

At the start of the fellowship training, the fellow will apply and become a trainee member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The application fee will be funded by the fellowship program.

The fellow may also choose to become a member of the Sleep Research Society (SRS).
