The University of Toledo’s Department of Music, an All-Steinway School, is a fully-accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. We offer both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, including a Bachelor of Music Performance, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of the Arts in Music, and a Master's degree in Performance. Hone your musicianship under the guidance of one of our highly skilled and experienced faculty, comprised of professional performing musicians, composers, published researchers, and active members of the commercial music industry. As a student of a university in a metropolitan area, you will benefit from our proximity to and relationships with professional arts organizations, including the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Opera, and the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. Expect to receive excellent instruction and numerous opportunities for the highest achievement.

Masterclasses for High School Students!

The University of Toledo Department of Music is thrilled to continue its series of Music Performance Masterclasses with our own talented artist-faculty.  These events will take place in person in throughout the 2022-2023 school year at UToledo’s Center for Performing Arts.   In each class, participants will explore a variety of performance/practice techniques as well as practical approaches to phrasing, tone, dynamics, and overcoming the unique issues of each instrument/voice. Greater Toledo INternational youth orchestra

Auditions for the 2022-2023 season will be held Saturday, August 21. Email the director at

Founded in 2013 by Yang Kun Song, the GTiYO is a string orchestra that performs a diverse repertoire, including traditional and modern Chinese music, as well as Western compositions. Students travel and perform internationally, to experience other cultures in the pursuit of the GTiYO's mission of Bridging Cultural Diversity through Music. The GTiYO is a proud partner of the UToledo Department of Music.

UToledo Rocket Drumline

The University of Toledo Drumline has a rich history of tradition within the Rocket Marching Band and continues to push the boundaries of marching percussion and performance. The group performs at all home football games as well as events on campus and around the Toledo area. Find out more information about the Rocket Drumline here.

The University of Toledo offers many ensembles of all sizes - from combos and chamber groups to large ensembles, a full orchestra, and of course the Rocket Marching Band. All are open to all UToledo students of any major. Some are also open to members of the community and do not require enrollment. Visit our ensembles page to learn more!
