Mission: Provide a platform for growing leadership skills, self-governing, and planning to enhance career development
Activities
Encouraging, reminding, and practicing for competitions: Graduate student research forum, Midwest Graduate Research, National 3MT Competition, and conferences/symposiums.
- Annual: Larry Gentry Research Forum, Graduate Student Appreciation Week activities, and assist onboarding of incoming Ph.D. students
- Monthly: Student open discussion with topics including but not limited to research techniques, new developments in the field, and troubleshooting day-to-day difficulties.
2024-2025 Leadership and Responsibilities
President
Ahmad Hegazi: leads meetings and implements long-term plans to enhance student career development and quality of research, coordinates with the administration to expand student opportunities, directs the line of contact with students to assist broader program difficulties, builds partnerships with other organizations and external partners, collaborates with other members on assigned projects
Vice President
Sushma Khatri: assists in all administration/leadership with the President, leads the meetings in the absence of the president, directs the line of contact with students regarding coursework difficulties, supervises student activities, works together with all the other members to achieve the goals of the organization
Event Chair
Azeezat Osikoya: community events, internal forums (Larry Gentry Research Forum), career development, post-dissertation celebratory events, multicultural potluck
Research Chair
Prisca Njoku: troubleshooting, conference attendance planning, monthly research discussion, writing seminars, mock poster presentations
Outreach Chair
Rahul Verma: assisting new students, establishing mentor-mentee pairings, main campus outreach, communicating with nearby universities, connecting with alumni
Public Affairs Chair
Bennett Allison: social media management (Facebook/Instagram), assist outreach chair with new students, meeting notes
