New Law Student Orientation

Wednesday, Aug. 16 - Thursday, Aug. 17
(Optional event on Friday, Aug. 18)

Welcome to Toledo Law! All entering students are required to participate in our New Law Student Orientation. We'll send you an email with information about session materials and a detailed schedule that will outline steps to complete before Orientation, as well as before your first day of law classes.

New Student FAQ

When will I register for classes?
Schedules will be released to you over email so you can schedule in late June. After you receive your schedule information, you will need to log in to the myUT portal to complete your class registration.

When do I need to pay my tuition?
Review the UToledo Treasurer's Office Important Dates for more information. To expedite financial aid processing, all students should complete their FAFSA well in advance of the first day of law classes. This is necessary to ensure that your financial aid is in place to pay your tuition in a timely manner.

Why do I need to provide more transcripts, and can I use the ones I sent to LSAC?
Unfortunately, we cannot reuse the transcripts provided to LSAC. For our purposes, we must have official copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. The transcripts which accompany your application from LSAC are photocopies. We require additional official transcripts for two reasons:

  • First, one copy of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts will be maintained permanently in your file at Toledo Law.
  • Second, one copy of your undergraduate transcript will be sent to the Office of Bar Examiners when you apply for the bar examination. This alleviates the necessity of requesting additional transcripts for bar applications.

Where can I buy books?
Students may purchase books online or through the University's on-campus bookstores, Barnes & Noble College Bookstore or Rockets Bookstore. View law course "Syllabi/First Assignments/Books" under the "Law" tab on the myUT portal for course information and a list of required textbooks for your courses.

What are the important dates to know for Toledo Law?
It is important to know when classes will be in session at Toledo Law, as we have a mandatory attendance policy. The academic calendar for the law school is different than the academic calendar for University's Main Campus and Health Sciences Campus. Please consult both the law school's academic calendar and the University's academic calendar for important dates and information throughout your time at Toledo Law. For "Add/Drop/Withdraw" dates, consult UToledo Add/Drop/Withdraw Deadlines where you will select the appropriate semester and under "select a part of term" select "Law Full Term." The first day of law fall 2023 classes is Monday, Aug. 21.
