Medical School Admission Pathways
The UT College of Medicine participates in the American Medical College Applications Services (AMCAS) program. Applicants must submit their application using the AMCAS electronic application at www.aamc.org.
Processing of preliminary AMCAS applications begins in mid June and ends November 1. On the basis of the data provided in the preliminary AMCAS application, the Admissions Committee may request secondary application information from the applicant. With the secondary application, the applicant must provide recommendations and pay a non-refundable fee, and may opt to provide a photograph. No application fee is charged for pre-screening the AMCAS application. The deadline to submit an AMCAS application is November 1.
Applicants must be citizens of the United States or have permanent resident status.
The BS/MD program is a joint program with the UT College of Engineering Bioengineering program. Learn more about the BS/MD program.
The College of Natural Science and Mathematics, The College of Literature, Language, and Social Sciences and the College for Visual and Performing Arts partner with the College of Medicine to offer the Baccalaureate/MD program. Learn more about the Bac/MD program.
The primary goal of this program is to educate and train graduate students who have completed all prerequisites required for medical school but wish to enhance their understanding of the biological sciences and potentially improve their academic credentials for applying to medical school. Approximately 50 students are accepted into this one year program. Historically 65 to 80 percent have been successful in matriculating into a medical class the following year. Medical School applicants are encouraged to apply to the University of Toledo College of Medicine Early Decision Program if they feel the University of Toledo is their first choice school. We interview all applicants who present competitive credentials (please refer to average GPA and MCAT scores listed in the Class Profile). The decision for acceptance is determined by the academic and personal qualifications demonstrated in the AMCAS application, Secondary MD Online Application, letters of recommendation and interview.
To apply for the Early Decision Program you must select "Early Decision" in the Application Type category on your AMCAS application. In this program, a student must apply exclusively to the University of Toledo College of Medicine, with the understanding that if accepted by the College of Medicine, the student will matriculate here. The AMCAS application must be completed by August 1st and the secondary application must be presented to the Admissions Office by September 1. A final decision by the school will be made no later than October 1. If not accepted by the University of Toledo College of Medicine, the student is free to seek admission to other schools after October 1. Learn more about the Early Decision Program.
