What you need to know

Sections: Requirements | FAFSA |  Scholarships | Transcripts | UT Student Account | Curriculum

To matriculate into medical school you must have successfully completed your academic degree program and completed the prerequisites outlined below.

  • One year of biological sciences
  • One year of general chemistry with labs
  • Biochemistry
  • One year of organic chemistry with labs
  • One year of physics
  • One year of mathematics

Reasons why you should file your FAFSA now:

  1. Filing your FAFSA early assures that you will receive a financial aid package in a timely manner once we begin awarding financial aid for next school year.

  2. You may list up to 10 colleges on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  3. The U.S. Department of Education uses the information provided on the FAFSA to determine eligibility for federal student aid.

  4. To complete the FAFSA, you will need your tax information from 2 years prior. This means you do not need to wait until your current taxes are complete in order to file your FAFSA. Please see for specific tax year requirements.

  5. As Graduate/Professional students, FAFSA does not require you to include your parent's income and tax information on your application, however, if you plan on applying for need-based scholarships; it is a requirement for some scholarships to have that information included on your FAFSA to determine financial need. Including your parents information is optional but encouraged for scholarship purposes and will not impact the amount of unsubsidized loans that you are offered.

  6. For more information please visit our Financial Aid page.

To be considered for any of the UT College of Medicine scholarships, an online scholarship application must be completed. (Please refer to the links below).

All the scholarship applications will ask for a University of Toledo Student Rocket ID. Your Rocket ID is in your Acceptance letter, above the salutation and begins with a "R".

Note: You may submit the scholarships forms before filing the FAFSA. In regards to specific scholarships (as indicated below), if you plan to apply for one or all of them, it is in your best interest to apply early and not wait until the last minute.
