Funding Opportunities
Academic Year Research Program (AYRP)
- Deadline is always the second Friday of November (Spring) and the third Tuesday of May (Fall)
- The Academic Year Research Program funds a small number of students to conduct research during an academic semester in coordination with a faculty mentor. Stipends are typically $1,500 for research during a semester.
- This program is primarily geared to those students and faculty that are unable to participate or apply for summer funding.
Summer Research and Creative Activities Program (USRCAP)
- Deadline is the third Tuesday of February
- Undergraduate Summer Research and Creative Activities Program is our main summer research program, which is open to all UT undergraduate students in all areas of research and/or creative activity present at UT. USR-CAP is a competitive program that supports research involvement by undergraduate students under the direction of a faculty member. Stipends are typically $3,000 for summer research.
First Year Summer Research Experience Program (FYSRE)
- Deadline is the third Tuesday of February
- The First Year Summer Research Experience Program supports research involvement by students in faculty members' research activities in the summer after their first year of college. FYSRE is similar to USRCAP except that FYSRE is open only to first-year undergraduates at UT.

Research around Toledo, the nation and abroad
- Toledo Talent Keeps Toledo Great Internship Program, managed by UToledo's Rocket Career Center, provides internship opportunities for University students within the city's departments or divisions.
- The National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) funds opportunities throughout the country. Most REU programs occur during the summer and have application deadlines in January or February.
- The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant Programs. These programs fund graduating seniors or those that have recently graduated to spend an academic year on their proposed project.
