Toledo Mud Hens
One of the things to do during the spring and summer; is go to a Toledo Mud Hens baseball
game. The team plays in 5/3 Field downtown and the atmosphere on game day is awesome!
There are a ton of restaurants to go to before and after the game, located right across
from the stadium.
Also playing downtown are the Toledo Walleye, Toledo’s hockey team. They play in
the Huntington Center.
When the Walleye aren’t playing, the Huntington Center hosts all sorts of other events.
You can check out national music acts, the circus, dirt bike racing, and all sorts
of other shows.
One of our best attractions is the Toledo Zoo, located about 20 minutes from campus.
It’s recognized as one of the top zoos in the country. They have all kinds of indoor
and outdoor exhibits, and they are open year-round. During the holidays, they even
put up special light displays and open each evening for “The Lights Before Christmas”.
Toledo Museum of Art
UT’s Center for Visual Arts is located downtown next to the world-renowned Toledo
Museum of Art. You can spend a whole day here viewing all the exhibits, and it’s
great for college students’ budgets because there is free admission!
Toledo Metro Parks
We also have Metro Parks throughout the Toledo area, which is the name of our public
parks system. In fact, just outside the admission office in Rocket Hall, there is
the University-Parks trail; which is a paved walking and biking trail that runs through
campus and connects to Wildwood Metro Park.
And just in case you wanted to get out of town for the weekend, we are very close to several other large cities. Detroit, Michigan is only about an hour from us; while Cleveland and Columbus, Oh are each about a two hour drive. And don’t forget about Cedar Point in Sandusky, named the top amusement park in the country more years than you can count!
