04/24/2008, Thursday, GK-12 Meeting (PI, Co-PIs, Teachers, Fellows)

The teachers and fellows met Thursday at the Lake Erie Center with a lot to talk about.  First and foremost, the group was interested in getting better acquainted with the background of each individual fellow and teacher.  So, individually, both the fellows and teachers took the time to describe their professional training and interests to the group.  The fellows also provided an overview of their research.  The hope was that this information would pair fellows and teachers with similar interests and goals.

The group then discussed the upcoming GK-12 summer courses and the Level 1 Ohio EPA Qualified Data Collector certification.  The teachers also completed the necessary paperwork to get the program off the ground.

02/07/2008, Thursday, GK-12 Meeting

Our intial GK-12 meeting was held at the Lake Erie Center and attended by University of Toledo faculty, staff, area teachers, and representatives from local environmental groups and agencies.  At the meeting, Dr. Stepien provided an overview of the grant and attendees discussed future needs associated with the program.  It also was an opportunity for the various participants to meet each other face-to-face and discuss ideas.
