Scott L. Scarborough, Ph.D. On September 18, 2012, The University of Toledo Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Scott Scarborough to serve as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. This position serves as the chief academic and operating officer of The University of Toledo Main Campus. Reporting to Dr. Scarborough are the twelve colleges on the university's main campus:
Also reporting to Dr. Scarborough through the Office of the Provost is the Division of Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, the Libraries, Experiential Learning, International Programs, and Distance Learning. Dr. Scarborough has a Ph.D. in strategic management from The University of Texas at Arlington, an MBA from The University of Texas at Tyler, and a BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin. On the date of his appointment, Dr. Scarborough announced the following strategic priorities:
On December 17, 2012, Dr. Scarborough published a new main campus strategic plan,
entitled “Imagine 2017.” The plan outlines key strategic initiatives at the Main Campus over the next five
years. Prior to assuming this position, Dr. Scarborough led a dramatic transformation of The University of Toledo Medical Center as its Senior Vice President and Executive Director. According to Dr. Scarborough, "My years at UTMC were some of the best years of my professional life; I will forever be linked to the wonderful people at UTMC who made that transformation possible. UTMC is second to none in healthcare." During his tenure, UTMC won the Press Ganey "National Success Story of the Year Award" and was named "Best Hospital in the Region" by U.S. News & World Report. UTMC also experienced its best ever Joint Commission accreditation survey during that time. A native of Texas, Dr. Scarborough and his family reside in Ottawa Hills, a residential community near the university. He enjoys reading, golf, college football, and family activities. |
