Kurzweil is now available in the HSHS computer labs. Kurzweil Educational Systems' research-aligned technologies provide complete reading, writing, and study solutions to help all students overcome learning challenges to promote academic success. You must coordinate the use of Kurszweil with your instructor.
DIGITAL SIGNAGE
Located in the main corridors, large digital screens have been hung to allow CHSHS departments to display information for our students. Students will be able to watch CNN with closed capitioning and UT open forums put on by President Jacobs. The monitors will be used to notify students of events, meetings, student services, and even college related scholarships.
Most importantly, Red Alert Notifications will be channeled through these displays placed in CHSHS. CHSHS College Computing initiated this effort and worked with Wide Area Media and internal IT staff to reprogram The University Alert system to be operational through the digital signage.
WIRELESS IS NOW VISTA COMPATIBLE
Over the summer, the wireless network in the Health Science and Human Service building was upgraded to support Windows XP, Mac OSX, and now Windows Vista. Our “Public” wireless network allows any visitor on campus to grab an internet connection without authenticating. The “Private” wireless network is for faculty and students and requires a UTAD username and password. Instructions on how to connect to these wireless networks in the HH building can be found in tutorials.
ECHO 360
Echo 360 is a system designed for educators to capture their lectures. After the capture has taken place, the instructor then publishes the lecture online for viewing by students enrolled in the class. This is most beneficial to those students living out of the Toledo area. HH1218 was recently modified to accommodate the equipment and software for such use. The lectures may be recorded in this room and should be scheduled with the PHRS departmental secretary at X-2743.
