Khew-Voon Chin, PhD.

Khew-Voon Chin, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry and Cancer Biology,
and Director of Genomic Medicine.
Dr. Chin received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University in New
Jersey and carried out his post-doctoral training at the National
Institutes of Health. He joined the University of Toledo College
of Medicine in 2005 after he served as Associate Research Professor
in the Department of Chemical Biology in the Susan Lehman Cullman
Laboratory for Cancer Research in the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy
at Rutgers University.
Dr. Chin’s laboratory is interested in the use of expression
genomic to delineate the factors that are involved in drug
resistance in cancer. Recent observations from such studies
resulted in the discovery of a molecular target that was further
subjected to high-throughput screening for small molecule intervention.
His laboratory has identified lead compounds that have been further exploited
to develop potential therapeutic for modulating cholesterol levels in the
treatment of obesity and its co-morbidities.
Dr. Chin is Co-Founder of Imhoteq Biotechnology, LLC, Berkeley Heights, NJ,
Founder of Esclapeus Biopharmaceuticals, LLC, Toledo, OH, and Co-Founder,
Esclapeus Genomics, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has authored
more than 55 peer-reviewed articles. His research has been funded by
grants from the NIH and the institution.
