Charge: Develop a bold, dynamic strategic plan that will move the institution forward as the New University of Toledo. The plan will encompass all major elements of the University (e.g., Main Campus, Health Science Campus, instruction, research, institutional advancement, student affairs, information technology, business and operations, outreach and service functions) and include input from major stakeholder groups.
The plan will reflect an institutional focus that is narrow and deep, define the customer and move resources to the customer interface, build a loyal and committed workforce, connect the institution to the community, and be aligned with the mission and vision statements of the institution.
Using language that is clear and easily understood by all members of the University community and the public, the plan will include a limited number of specific goals, specific strategies for achieving each of the goals, and a concrete implementation plan that identifies specific steps to take and those responsible for each step.
As a continuously evolving document, the plan may consider, among others, the following strategic issues:
Size and mix of student base (e.g., professional schools versus general education; popular education vs. selectivity)
Role of University College
Use of Scott Park
Research v. teaching (i.e., balancing elements of the mission)
Research areas of prioritization
Model for resource allocations
Connection to the community
Role in the rejuvenation of downtown
Responsibility toward quality of health care in Toledo
