The City of Toledo indicates it will enforce this law. Therefore, it is not in the best interest of our students to list any houses which could put our students in a position of being forced to move since their landlord, knowingly or not, is in violation of this law.
BASEMENT/ATTIC BEDROOMS: City law requires two exits. If a fire is blocking the door to your basement or attic bedroom and there is no other useable exit, the results could be tragic. In order for a basement or attic window to count as a second exit, you must be able to reach it, open it, and get your body through it. Some basement and attic bedrooms have been constructed without city permits or attention to this law. This is another situation the city is pursuing and could result in eviction if the bedroom is improperly constructed.
