Graduate Program

Applying to the Program

Ready to apply for the program? It is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

1. APPLY TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL.
The first step is to apply for admission to the University of Toledo's Graduate School. You can enroll in any of the following categories.

Regular Admission requires a baccalaureate or professional degree from a department of approved standing in an accredited college or university and a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.70 or higher for all previous academic work.

Special Status. If you do not have a 2.70 GPA, if you are interested in taking just a few courses, or if you want to take a course while your application is pending, you can seek admission as a Special Status student.

Transient Student. If you are enrolled in a graduate degree program at another accredited institution and wish to take graduate courses in Communication Studies at The University of Toledo, you can enroll as a transient student.

Click here for the UT Graduate School Admissions Guidelines.

2. REGISTER WITH CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES AND/OR THE MASTER OF LIBERAL STUDIES PROGRAM.

The next step is to identify your initial plan of study.

The Certificate in Communication Studies is housed within the Master of Liberal Studies program. While you may pursue the Certificate without completing the requirements of the MLS degree, we encourage you to consider the MLS degree program.

Click here for more information about the MLS degree.

3. CONTACT THE DIRECTOR OF GRADUATE STUDIES IN COMMUNICATION.

The final step is to contact the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Communication.

The Director of Graduate Studies in Communication will work with you to track your application process and to develop a plan of study suited to your specific needs and interests.
