GK-12 Fall Course - 2009

EEES 8980-20, Improving Student Watershed Watch for GK-12, Thursday, 3:00pm-4:50pm
This course will work to improve the Student Watershed Watch program.  A quick guide will be created for teachers that are new to Student Watershed Watch.  The data analysis procedure will be simplified and a database for reults from the schools will be created.  Instructor: Dr. Carol Stepien (2 credit hours, Also offered to teachers as EEES 8930-20, 4:00pm-4:50pm, 1.0 credit hour)


GK-12 Summer Course - 2009

EEES 8980-20, Environmental Education Field Methods II, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm (June 15-19)
This course examined the geology of the land-lake interface through classroom lectures and many field experiences.  It focused on the geologic events, including stream and river processes, which have resulted in our modern landscape.  Contaminants and their potential sources and pathways were covered as well.  This intense week long summer course further enhanced bonding and team building.  Instructors: Drs. Timothy Fisher & Cyndee Gruden (2 credit hours)


GK-12 Spring Course - 2009

EEES 6980-20/8980-20, Environmental Science Learning Community, Thursday, 3:00pm-4:50pm
This course consisted of guest speakers in various disciplines, including the speakers participating in the Thursday evening environmental science learning community lecture series.  Task groups were formed to work on grant related projects with focus on the Science Fair, the Student Poster Show, and annual reports.  Instructor: Dr. Carol Stepien (2 credit hours, Also offered to teachers as EEES 8930-20, 4:00pm-4:50pm, 1.0 credit hour)


GK-12 Fall Course - 2008

EEES 6980-20/8980-20, Environmental Education Methods, Thursday, 3:00pm-4:50pm
This course helped improve the Fellows' teaching skills and consisted of guest speakers in various disciplines including educational methods.  Task groups were formed to work on grant related projects with focus on Student Watershed Watch related activities.  Instructor: Dr. Carol Stepien (2 credit hours, Also offered to teachers as EEES 8930-20, 4:00pm-4:50pm, 1.0 credit hour)


GK-12 Summer Courses - 2008

EEES 6980/8980-011, Water Quality of Lakes/Streams, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm (June 16-20)
This course consisted of field and lab activities, with lectures on biology, chemistry, and physics of aquatic systems.  Laboratory activities concentrated on techniques for water quality measurements.  Students also trained to become Ohio EPA Level 1 Qualified Data Collectors.  Prepared teachers and fellows for Student Watershed Watch and enhanced team building.  Instructor: Dr. Tom Bridgeman.  (2 credit hours)

EEES 6980/8980-022, Environmental Science: Land-Lake Interface, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm (June 23-27) 
This second summer course built on the lessons from week one.  Field sites were visited, evaluated and water quality measurements were performed.  All groups made macroinvertebrate collections for classroom use and we made a joint fish collection that classes can borrow.  Prepared teachers and fellows for Student Watershed Watch and enhanced team building.  Instructor: Dr. Daryl Moorhead.  (2 credit hours)
