William Wellborn is in demand as a pianist, teacher and lecturer throughout North America and Europe, and has performed in 26 states and 12 countries. He received a MM from the New England Conservatory, and DMA in Performance, and a BM in Piano Pedagogy, both from the University of Texas. Wellborn has presented numerous lectures and workshops for organizations such as the 2000 World Pedagogy Conference.
Wellborn is on the national board of the American Liszt Society and is the founding president of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the American Liszt Society. A faculty member of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music since 1989, Wellborn teaches piano in the Preparatory and Adult Extension divisions and Piano Pedagogy in the Collegiate division. Faculty in the Music Department work in cooperation with the College of Education to provide a field of study in Music Education. The Music Department also contributes an important element to a well-rounded liberal arts program by offering classes like Music Appreciation and Jazz History every semester.

UT Alumna Awarded Fellowship at OSU
Congratulations to UT alumna, Emily Holsclaw, (BE in Music, UT ’08)! Emily has received a fellowship to attend Ohio State University, where she is pursuing a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Opera. “I am absolutely overwhelmed, enormously grateful, ecstatic, and excited to begin this degree!” says Emily.
The fellowship, which began this semester (Fall ’09), includes full tuition, a student insurance benefit, a faculty parking pass, and a monthly stipend. Emily will begin teaching during her second year, when the fellowship becomes a Teaching Assistantship.
