To complete your Undergraduate Major, you must take 30 hours in philosophy, while satisfying the following requirements:

Students may take a maximum of two courses with P/NC in the major and may opt for P/NC in all related courses. One independent study course, or independent study for departmental honors, is recommended. These are arranged individually by contacting an instructor and proposing a project.
Majors planning to pursue graduate study in philosophy are encouraged to take additional courses from the above core areas.
Pre-Law
Majors preparing for professional careers in law are encouraged to take:
- PHIL 3710 Philosophy of Law
- PHIL 3760 Crime and Punishment
Philosophy Double Majors
The Philosophy Department makes every effort to accommodate our students who are completing two majors at the same time. At the University of Toledo a student may add a second major in addition to a primary major program already underway, and complete requirements for both degrees.
