Backstage at "The Misanthrope"
The Department of Theatre and Film's recent production of The Misanthrope creatively fused theatre and video aspects to tell the classic story by Moliere. The department would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of what goes on backstage on a production such as this at The University of Toledo.  Director Cornel Gabara works out
technical issues with Mitchell Lengerich, the video designer on this production
and the upcoming Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of
Love. Mitchell was also the publicity photographer on The
Misanthrope.
 UT student Nate Walker operated the
sound console for the entire run of the show, gaining important technical
experience to take with him upon graduation.
 Working closely with the video
designer, freshman theatre major Danielle Gandy had her first experience as
Video Console Operator for this show.
The Cast Backstage UT student Shannon Ball, who served
on the Wardrobe Crew for The Misanthrope, helps Nikki Soldner prepare
for her debut performance of the despicable Celimene. Shannon is also credited
with assistant costume design on this production.
 Senior Tyree Troutman cast as
Oronte (left) and freshman Uche Elueze who played Philinte (right) put the last
minute touches on their costumes before taking the stage.
 Adding to the "Warhol" dimension of
this production, Seth Shaffer is seen here backstage with Sherri Siniff, who
played DuBois, living the role of the famous Pop Artist.

 Director Cornel Gabara gives some
final notes to protagonist Alceste, portrayed by Brett Bowling. He was also an
Irene Ryan nominee.
