JD/MBA Program
The JD/MBA program provides an opportunity to earn a dual degree through an integrated curriculum. Successful completion of the dual degree program leads to the awarding of two degrees. The Juris Doctor degree is awarded by the College of Law, and the MBA degree is awarded by the College of Business Administration.

Juris Doctor Degree
The College of Law requires completion of 89 credit hours. The dual degree program permits up to 12 credit hours of MBA Core Courses to be applied toward this requirement. The MBA Core Courses from the College of Business Administration must be approved by the Associate Dean of the College of Law.

MBA Degree
The MBA program requires a minimum of 33 credit hours. Up to 18 additional credit hours may be required if a student does not have an academic background in business. The dual degree program permits up to 12 credit hours from the College of Law to be applied toward the MBA program. The College of Law courses must have business application and can replace one MBA Core Course and three MBA electives. The courses from the College of Law must be approved by the Senior Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration.

Integrated Curriculum
JD/MBA students may replace either BUAD 6500 or BUAD 6800 with the College of Law elective listed below. Only one MBA Core Course can be replaced with a College of Law course.

MBA Core Course and Corresponding College of Law Elective
BUAD 6500 International Business
LAWI 9480 International Business Transactions

BUAD 6800 Information Technology and E-Business
LAWI 9020 E-Commerce

Up to three of the College of Law courses listed below can serve as MBA electives. Other College of Law courses may be approved as well. Students in the dual degree program will earn their MBA in General Administration. It is not possible to earn a specialization since the MBA electives are replaced with College of Law courses.

LAWG 9610 Secured Transactions
LAWI 9060 Sales and Leases of Goods
LAWI 9300 Employment Discrimination

Administrative Arrangements
The College of Law and the College of Business Administration are both responsible for the administration of the dual degree program. Both colleges shall coordinate and monitor any changes that could lead to an adjustment regarding the integrated curriculum.

Admissions
Students must apply and be admitted to both programs separately. There are separate applications and fees for each program. Your LSAT score will be accepted by the College of Business Administration in lieu of a GMAT score.

Academic Advising
The College of Law and the College of Business Administration both provide academic advising to students in the dual degree program.

Awarding of Degrees
Students enrolled in the dual degree program will not receive the JD or MBA degree until all work required for both degrees has been completed. Credit for courses from the other college will only be awarded if a satisfactory grade is earned. Also, degrees must be awarded within time limits established by the College of Law, the College of Business Administration and the College of Graduate Studies.
