The Chinese Bridge Summer Camp is designed to promote communication between Chinese and American young people, deepen the understanding of Chinese language & culture among U.S. high school students and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning Chinese.
This two-week program is structured to enhance understanding between American and
Chinese high school students. Through a combination of classroom study and excursions,
students will have a unique opportunity to expand their language skills while experiencing
China's rich culture, tradition, and history.

Last year was from July 15 to 29, 2012
Arrival and Departure City
Beijing, China
Activity Locations
Beijing, Jilin, Henan, ShanXi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, GuangXi and Fujian. All participants
will be divided into several delegation groups. Each group will visit Beijing and
one of the provinces above, which will be decided and arranged by the Office of Chinese
Language Council International (Hanban – Confucius Institute Headquarters) according
to the regulations of the program.
Cost
Participants are responsible for the cost of a round-trip air ticket, international
travel insurance and visa and application fees. Hanban will pay the costs in China
for accommodation, transportation and activities for students and chaperons while
in China.
Camp Activities 
During the program, students will study Chinese language and culture (paper cutting, calligraphy, brush painting, tea ceremony, martial arts, etc.), participate in various sports and cultural activities (informal basketball matches, international student get-togethers, host family experiences, etc.); and visit points of interest and sites of natural beauty in China.
Student Eligibility Requirements
Student applicants must be currently enrolled in accredited public / private high schools meeting the following criteria:
- U.S. citizenship
- Ages 14 to 18, enrolled in grades 9-12 or beginning grade 9 in Fall 2013
- Excellent academic record and strong interest in Chinese language and culture
- Physically capable of international travel
- Some knowledge of the Chinese language is preferred; however a beginning Chinese tutorial course will be available for those with little or no experience.

Application and Selection Procedure
The UTCI will review the applications and forward the names of applicants to the Confucius Institute Headquarters for admission into the program. Hanban will inform Confucius Institute with the final selection results. Confucius Institute will then sign Disclaimer Agreement and codes of conduct with selected students and their parents.
