We open this issue by paying tribute to Yolanda King, the eldest child of Martin Luther King, Jr., who melded her father’s message of racial equality and nonviolence with her own calling as an actor and a motivational speaker. Yolanda died on Tuesday, May 16, 2007 in Santa Monica, Calif. She was 51. She was indeed a woman of much inspiration and talent. You can learn more about Yolanda and her work through her website.
In this issue of Diversity Horizons, we present topical issues we hope that you will find both interesting and thought-provoking. In this issue we offer a review spring and summer semester news and events including Student Leadership Recognition Awards; a BeadforLife class project; and new leaders on campus for the Africana Studies Program and Multicultural Student Services. The President's Commission on Diversity remains the platform to highlight diversity efforts at The University of Toledo.
