Director receives Students first Award for February
Susan Andrews, director of student customer service, received the Students First Award for February.
Andrews’s position at UT involves helping students who are often upset, frightened or hurt. She treats each of them with professionalism and wisdom that she has acquired over many years of working with students at UT.
She always has in mind not only solving a particular problem, but she also works on improving the process so other students never encounter the same difficulty.
“I
first met Susan when I had a problem,” said nominator Sheila Doles, 2006 UT alumna who is pursuing a master of liberal studies
degree.
“As I explained my problem to her, she was concerned and listened very carefully. She took care of my problem and was so cordial,
professional and genuine that I felt nothing but gratitude.”
Doles also expressed appreciation for Andrew’s help with a mentoring program that she is building at UT.
“She never for a moment hesitates to share, support and advocate on the student’s behalf,” Doles said. “The Students First Award is an understatement of what Susan Andrews does on this campus.”
“It is truly an honor to be recognized by students for the work that we do, and it is very humbling that Sheila was willing to actually take time out of her busy schedule to submit this nomination,” Andrews said. “Serving our students is a privilege, and since my job is dependent upon the cooperation and expertise of so many wonderful faculty and staff, I share this recognition with all of them.”
Andrews received a $75 gift card from Barnes and Noble and a $25 gift card from Starbucks as a part of the recognition.
At the end of the academic year, one winner will be selected to receive a $1,500 cash prize.
