    CDHP administered by Aetna is a new option for unclassified/ PSA and non union staff for 2007.

    HSAs have some significant tax advantages*.  Contributions you make to your HSA are tax deductible and earn interest tax free.  HSA funds also are not taxed when withdrawn to pay for qualified health related expenses.

    • The University of Toledo is making a contribution to your HSA based on the plan you select (Gold or Blue).  Please refer to the plan design summary information you will receive in your Open Enrollment packet for more details.   You too, can contribute.  Choose the amount you wish to contribute through a pre-tax payroll deduction, or you may make a post-tax lump sum deposit or periodic contributions anytime, in any amount, up to the maximum limit. 
    • Your HSA dollars earn interest tax free.
    • You can conveniently withdraw money from your HSA using your Aetna HSA debit card,  or allow the account to grow over time and use it for future qualified health expenses.
    • The medical and prescription drug benefits plan (high-deductible health plan) provides coverage for preventive care services (screenings, physical exams, immunizations) not subject to the deductible and are covered at 100% with University Medical Center providers.
    • There is also an extensive Preferred Drug Plan outlined in the 2008 Aetna Preferred Drug Guide
    • At the end of the year, any money left in your HSA rolls over to the next year.  What’s more, you own your HSA – so you keep your Aetna HSA even if you change health plans or jobs!

    *Consult with your tax advisor to determine eligibility requirements and tax advantages for participating in the Aetna HSA plan.
