Toledo Starz is an after-school enrichment program for high school students, particularly those who are historically underrepresented in the sciences who have an interest in the health professions. This unique year-long program “brings health sciences alive” and is presented from September through May via a series of interactive sessions. Accepted students attend monthly sessions, during which they explore medical issues and various roles involved within the health care process presented by UT faculty, staff and students. Participants also participate in the Super Starz Spring Symposium where students present a thoroughly research project and graduate in May. The program was launched in fall 2006 and is now in its third successful year. The programs runs from 4-6pm and a meal is provided for all participants.
Applications are solicited from Toledo area high schools from May to early September.
