About the eWriting Center
What is the eWriting Center?
At the eWriting Center, you can receive feedback and comments about your writing assignments for Blackboard courses you are taking this term. Your course utilizes the eWriting Center, a collaborative project of the University Writing Center and Distance eLearning. In the eWriting Center, you can contact experienced Writing Center tutors and receive on-line assistance with your course papers.
How do tutors help with writing assignments?
Tutors will read your papers and provide feedback or suggestions which are intended to help you improve aspects of a specific paper. They are committed to helping your build writing strengths transferable to other writing projects. They may comment on your topic's narrowness or breadth, the appropriateness of your thesis, the effectiveness of your organization, or the extent of your development. They cannot evaluate how good your paper is or suggest a grade since only your instructor can determine grades, and they cannot simply "fix" a paper for you.
How do I get this help?
Send your paper as an attachment at any time, using the email feature in this website. Go to the "Submit a Paper" section in the eWriting Center for more information. Although papers will be read on a first-come/ first-served basis, you will receive a reply to let you know when to expect your paper to be returned with comments. Please allow 48 hours for the tutor to read through your paper and provide comments. Of course longer papers take more time to read carefully.
Is there other help available?
The eWriting Center complements "face-to-face" tutoring at the Writing Center in Carlson Library daily throughout the year. Call 419-530-4939 to schedule an appointment.
