Technology Requirements

Before You Begin Your Course: Students are responsible to have access to a properly functioning computer throughout the semester. The computer must be able to run the software listed in the software section below. Some courses require specific software that students may have to purchase. If using a computer at a public library, students should check with the library to ensure they will have access and for the length of time required.

Internet Service
Students are responsible to have Internet service. High speed Internet access is recommended as dial-up may be slow and limited in downloading information and completing online tests. Some courses may contain streaming audio and/or video content.

Students must have an Internet Service Provider. Students are responsible for purchasing, installing and maintaining all computer hardware and software needed for their participation in online courses. Some courses have specific software and/or media requirements. Please contact eLearning, the instructor, or department, if you have any questions.

Software
Student computers need to be capable of running the latest versions of plug-ins, recent software and have the necessary tools to be kept free of viruses and spyware. A typical list is provided below

Most computer labs on campus are capable of accommodating online courses but students should check for specific lab information.
