Army ROTC Advanced Course Entrance Programs
Basic Course
The Basic course is the most common option for entering freshmen who have no prior military experience or training. The completion of the 4 course sequence in the Basic Course enables a student to achieve the required military skills by the end of their sophomore year. Basic Course classes can be taken by an student at the University of Toledo. In most cases, the basic course classes can be taken with no military obligation.
Leaders Training Course
The Leaders Training Course option is for sophomores who are unable to complete the basic course. This is a special program which enables students to receive credit for military training by completing a challenging 28 day program at Ft. Knox, KY. Successful completion of LTC allows a student to progress to the advanced course.

Prior Military Service
Many students enter the University following a period of Active Duty Service. These students are granted completion credit for Military Skills training and they are able to enter the Advanced Course when they satisfy all other requirements. Prior Active Service from all branches is accepted.
Army Reserve/Army National Guard Members
Current members of the Army Reserve or Army National Guard are also able to receive skill training credit upon satisfactory completion of Army Basic Combat Training. Reserve component soldiers who are academically and otherwise qualified can enter the Army ROTC Advanced Course by participating in the Simultaneous Membership Program . They continue to serve in the National Guard or Army Reserves as Officer Trainees while completing their Army ROTC commissioning requirements.
