Project Management Office (PMO)
Project Management Office (PMO)
With so many new requests for IT products, services and/or information coming into IT Department, detailed planning, prioritizing, monitoring of status and delivery of projects according to scope, time, and budget are essential. The PMO provides skilled project management to most highly visible and complex IT projects. The IT Department PMO is committed to following the PMI Global Standard methodology to complete these activities. Every IT project has a team (led by project manager) that manages the work of the project (such as: scope, time, cost, risk and quality) as well as stakeholders with differing needs and expectations. The project team’s manager's role is to document the project tasks, execute the project, clearly and frequently communicate the status of the project and tasks, and work closely with the Project Sponsor (the requesting department responsible person) to ensure that the project is delivered as close to the estimated/projected time, budget and scope as possible. The Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for coordinating IT Department’s projects that have been approved by IT department leadership and also responsible for status reporting of all projects. Other responsibilities are: identifying, prioritizing, authorizing, managing, and controlling projects and programs to achieve specific IT strategic goals in alignment with the university strategic directions.
