1.) What is a computer virtual laboratory?

A computer virtual laboratory is the virtual equivalent of a physical computer laboratory.  With the virtual laboratory, students can access University software anywhere they are as long as they have an internet connection. Virtual Computer Lab service allows students to access many services available in our physical computer labs—including our computers' standard desktop environment, many software applications, and UTAD home directory—all without needing to come to a physical computer laboratory.

2.) Why Virtual Computer Laboratory?

Virtual computer laboratory will provide student access to software and data files regardless of location 24 hours a day 7 days a week and all year. Virtual computer laboratory allows older computer equipment to run newer software as applications reside on the server.  Virtual computer laboratory reduces troubleshooting of lab problems; facilitates course development on different versions of the same software; enhances quick application roll out; eliminates need to change/update software images in computer labs; and eliminates the need to travel to locations for support. With virtual computer laboratory applications can be delivered to most web-enabled devices; and conflicting applications can be run on separate servers and arrive at the same user desktop.
