You will need to download the archived (zipped) Installation program to your desktop. The file size is 13.3 MB. Step Two: Install the SciFinder Scholar Client on your Computer
The file you downloaded is a self-extracting installation file (SciFinderScholar2007PC.exe). When you double-click on the icon, it will extract the archive for you.  Then, click on the SFS2007.exe program to start the install program if it doesn't start automatically.

During the Installation, please be sure to do the following:

  • Destination Folder: The installation program will allow you to place the program in any file. The default location is "C:\SFSCHLR". If you have a partitioned drive and do not have enough room in your C: drive, then it can go to any hard-drive on the computer. Write down the directory name because you will need it later.
  • Choose the Type of Installation: Please choose "Typical".
  • The program will start to install and will write files on your PC
  • You will be asked: "Do You Have a Disk Labeled Custom Site Files?" Answer "No"
  • The installation program will end and on your desktop a folder will open with the following shortcuts:
    • SciFinder Scholar Readme File (shortcut to text file)
    • SciFinder Scholar User Guide (shortcut to Adobe PDF file)
    • SciFinder Scholar (shortcut to program)
    • Uninstall SciFinder Scholar (shortcut to program that will remove SciFinder from your computer
  • Move the site.prf file from the original extracted archive into the same directory where you loaded the program in step two above. The default is "C:\SFSCHLR", but your location may vary.
