Curriculum
This page will give you a complete listing of the communication classes offered in each of the four Department of Communication areas of study: Broadcasting, Journalism, Public Relations, and General Communication.
All Communication majors must complete the following five required courses. It is
suggested you complete COMM 2000 and COMM 2400 by the end of your sophomore year.
You should take COMM 3870 during your junior year, and you should only register for
COMM 4910 after achieving senior status. You may take COMM 2600 at anytime.
Along with the required courses for all students the department offers Conceptual
courses covering the theory and ideas of the subject being studied, and Applied courses
which put the theory and ideas into action.
All communication majors are required to take a minimum of 35 hours and a maximum of 43 hours of communication classes. Students must take a minimum of 8 hours from the list of Applied Communication classes and a minimum of 8 hours from the list of Conceptual Communication classes. It is suggested that students also take between 2 and 6 hours of Professional Experience classes.
