CDS International (CDS)
The CDS International is a non-profit organization committed to the advancement of international practical training opportunities for young professionals, students, educators, as well as labor, business and government representatives. Among the programs from the U.S. is the Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange. The CDS provides useful information with regard to internships.

This site provides descriptions of all of the following programs and application guidelines and forms.
Types of programs:
Undergraduate Scholarships - Scholarships for 4 to 10 months of study, thesis research or an internship for students in any academic field.
Study Scholarship for Graduating Seniors (aka Deutschlandjahr) - This program is now a part of Graduate Study Scholarships.
RISE - Research Internships in Science and Engineering - Summer internships with German doctoral students at universities and research institutions--no German required.
University Summer Course Grant - Summer courses at German universities to help build your language skills while studying anything from film to politics to engineering.
German Studies Research Grant - Funding for research in the US or Germany in all areas of contemporary German Studies.
EMGIP - Bundestag Internship - Two months at the German parliament for students who are fluent in German.
Of special interest:
University Summer Course Grant (Hochschulsommerkurse)
Description: 3-4-week summer courses at various German universities
Restrictions: Full-time graduate students and undergraduate students with at least junior status; 2 years of college-level German or equivalent as prerequisite; preference to applicants under age 32
Deadline: 31 January
Description: Awards are for study abroad, senior thesis research, and/or internships.
Restrictions: Students must be U.S. (or Canadian) citizens, or foreign nationals who will complete their degree in the U.S.; open to applicants in all academic fields; applicants must have at least junior standing by the beginning of the scholarship period; applicants must receive academic credit for the program.
Terms of awards: Scholarships offered up to ten months during German academic year and between four and six months for one semester; scholarship provides a monthly stipend and contributes to international plane fare as well as to the cost of books/materials and student health insurance.
