Student Rights and Responsbilities
| Student Rights |
- To decide whether to disclose disability and seek accommodation(s) or to continue with academic studies without any accommodation(s).
- NOT to disclose the nature of the disability or provide copies of medical verification to faculty/staff other than AEC professionals.
- To have reasonable academic accommodations without encountering hostile reactions or retaliation.
- To have FERPA confidentiality rights maintained.
| Student Responsibilities |
- To seek accommodation(s) in a timely fashion to allow adequate time for processing the request, determining accommodation, and implementing accommodation(s).
- To keep open communication with AEC professionals for effective monitoring of accommodations and changes, if required.
- If additional accommodations are requested, the student is responsible for providing AEC professionals with additional documentation to support that request.
- To present AEC prepared accommodation letter to faculty and begin dialogue on the accommodation needs for each semester.
- To comply with all UT and UTHSC behavior and academic honesty policies. Academic accommodations never ask instructors to ignore policies that address disruptive behaviors.
