With a broad base of experience in nonprofit fundraising and marketing, Jan joined the UT Institutional Advancement group in April 2010 as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. His 20+ years of service include positions with a number of leading educational, cultural, and human service organizations, including the Mackinac Island State Park Commission, National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, Cranbrook Educational Community, Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, American Red Cross, and United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
He received his B.A. in Social Science from the University of Detroit Mercy, and his M.A. in Organizational Communication and Public Relations from Wayne State University, where he was a Graduate-Professional Scholarship recipient and completed internships with General Motors and the City of Detroit Mayor’s Office.
Jan is a past Board member of the Association of Fundraising (AFP)-Greater Detroit Chapter, and currently serves as a member of the AFP-Northwest Ohio Chapter Program Committee. He and his spouse Julie are the proud parents of three sons: Thomas and Steven, who presently attend college, and Peter, who is in high school.
