Kathy Vasquez is responsible for advocacy, legislative, and executive liaison in support of the Health Science Campus, to include the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Health Sciences & Human Service; the University Medical Center and clinical enterprise.
Kathy also serves as Director of the Ohio Statewide Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program, coordinating AHECs affiliated with Ohio’s seven medical schools; and Director of the UT AHEC Program, managing AHECs is Bryan, Lima and Sandusky. Kathy’s health care and education experience includes hospital service/program planning, market research, grant writing/management, and program management.
Analumna of UT, Kathy holds a Master of Science and Education in public health administration. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Family Medicine, College of Medicine and also in the Dept. of Public Health, College of Health Science & Human Service. Service on university committees, includes the Executive Strategic Planning Committee and the Admissions Committee of the College of Medicine.
Kathy has served on numerous community and professional boards and is active in the National AHEC Organization, serving as co-chair of the Public Policy Committee, and as a member of the editorial board of the organization’s journal, The NAO Bulletin. She has served as a grant peer reviewer for the Health Resource and Services Administration, HHS. Nationally, Kathy has testified before the US House of Representatives Appropriations Sub-Committee for Labor, Health & Human Services, and at congressional briefings.
